Mr. Richard Jiménez

Biography

Mr. Jiménez is excited to be joining the Darby Dolphins in Sasebo, bringing his experience and knowledge to promote and enhance the great teaching and learning already happening at Darby Elementary.

Mr. Jiménez was born and raised in New York City and graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, NY. He received his bachelor’s degree in Music with an Asian Studies minor from Skidmore College, where he met his wife, Stacey. After serving in the United States Army as a language specialist, Mr. Jiménez completed his Master of Education in Educational Instructional Technology and Psychology from the University of Oklahoma in Norman as well as state certification in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Supervision. He is currently working on his doctorate in K-12 Educational Leadership through Aspen University.

Mr. Jiménez has served as a teacher at St. Anselm’s Elementary School in the Bronx and Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School in Manhattan. He taught at Shields High School in Oklahoma City and joined DoDEA as a teacher at M.C. Perry High School in Iwakuni. Mr. Jiménez then became a guidance counselor at Brittin and Diamond Elementary Schools in Fort Stewart before moving to Germany as a counselor and Spanish teacher at Ansbach Middle High School. He was then promoted to assistant principal and served at Bamberg Middle High School, Baumholder Middle High School, and Kaiserslautern High School. He is looking forward to working with students in grades SS-5 and joining a learning environment that is centered on student learning and growth.

Mr. Jiménez continues to support the infusion of 21st Century teaching and learning with a focus on student academic collaboration and social skill development. His basic philosophy is to support each student through shared decision-making and collaboration with faculty, staff, district personnel, community members, parents, and students themselves.

Mr. Jiménez and his wife, Stacey, have three children who all graduated from DoDEA schools. One is a scientist in Massachusetts and the other two are attending college.
